Next semester, some Wichita district students will have a new option on how they can take classes. They can watch television. District officials are working on the program, which will allow students to take courses not currently offered at their schools. "This addresses 21st-century learners, and it's truly up their alley on how they like to learn," said Brad Niessen, the district's instructional technology specialist. The project, called Interactive Distance Learning, is similar to that used by some colleges in their distance learning programs. Goddard and Maize school districts already use this program to offer classes such as Japanese to their students.
