Boom in home-schooling expected - Darrell Bellaart, The News Bulletin
Learning by distant education is no longer just for devout Christians or families living in remote areas. A new wave of home-schooled students is expected in the years ahead, after the B.C. Ministry of Education officially recognized it as a viable alternative for traditional education. “It’s growing, the number of people choosing to home-school,” said Scott Saywell, district principal of Nanaimo school district’s alternative programs. The Education Ministry changed how it funds home-schooling in June.
