Web break: Legislature should help fund online program for Navajos - Salt Lake Tribune
It's been a while since descendants of some of the first people to live in what is now Utah got much in the way of a real break from those who now run the place. A proposal to teach Navajo youths computer skills and help them earn high school diplomas without leaving their reservation could provide just the boost that they need to attend college as distance-learning students and to pursue careers. But, as with most good ideas, the plan will need funding. Its promoters will ask the Legislature to augment private financing with money from state coffers.
