UD Online faculty honored - University of Delaware
Five UD faculty members were recognized for their outstanding contributions to online instruction at UD's second annual Online Faculty Appreciation Reception held April 21 in Mechanical Hall. Robert Hunsperger, professor of electrical and computer engineering, received the Distinguished Teaching Award for his efforts to further the quality of distance learning; Charlene Hamilton, professor emerita of health, nutrition and exercise sciences, received the Pioneer Award for her early development of distance-learning nutrition courses and her work with UD's online dietetic internship program; Richard Gearhart, professor of chemistry, received an Innovative Teaching Award for his use of the WebCT course environment; Susan Evans, an instructor in UD's School of Education, received an Innovative Teaching Award for her use of the Live Classroom technology; and Brian Miller, an assistant professor in UD's Department of Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Management, received an Innovative Teaching Award for his incorporation of new technology into his online classes.
