State pushes online courses - LORI HIGGINS, Detroit Free Press
Michigan is on track to dramatically alter its image from a state that requires only a civics course to graduate from high school to being the only state in the nation to mandate online learning. That online requirement is part of a proposal to beef up expectations of high school students. State officials say it's crucial to keeping Michigan on track with an increasingly global market. "The Michigan world has changed dramatically and we have to face up to this reality," Kathleen Straus, president of the state Board of Education, said this week.
