National Open University of Nigeria as a model of excellence - ONWUKWE ALAEZI, Sun News
The vision of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) is “to be regarded as the foremost university providing highly accessible and enhanced quality education anchored by social justice, equity, equality and national cohesion through a comprehensive reach that transcends all barriers.” To this end, the NOUN has embarked upon a large initiative to enhance higher education in Nigeria through its use of some Open and Distance Learning (ODL) delivery systems. Four key considerations emerge as we explore ODL delivery systems within the framework of the overall plan of the NOUN. What these delivery systems mean, their concept/process analyses and the various quality assurance measures to enhance the vision of the National Open University or open schooling at the tertiary level in Nigeria.
