13 prisons in the SW of England to get e-learning in 10 million IT deal - Public Technology
Thirteen prisons and five probation areas in the South West of England are to benefit from a coordinated approach to the delivery of learning to offenders in prison and during probation. This will take the form of information, advice and guidance (IAG) services, resettlement advice and management information to track learners throughout their learning journey. A £10.7m contract has been awarded to Tribal Technology. The Learning and Skills Council (LSC) awarded the contract under its Offenders’ Learning and Skills Services (OLASS) programme. Tribal won the tender for the four-year contract in competition with130 other companies. From 1st August 2005, Tribal Technology has managed two units of delivery in one of the three pilot regions, the South West. Tribal Hubs, a Tribal Technology company, already runs the IAG services for the LSC in Bournemouth, Dorset and Poole, to enhance citizens’ opportunities for jobs and learning.
