Podcasting could be the next big thing - Dave Peyton, Tribune Media
Podcasting isn't big on the Internet -- at least, not yet. But those who predict the next big thing in cyberspace say it will be podcasting -- the publishing of audio, and eventually video, broadcasts on the Internet, is growing and could become as big as Weblogs -- or blogs -- in the future. In fact, Yahoo is betting podcasting will be huge. It opened a test site in mid-October devoted exclusively to downloadable audio programs. The site at http://www.podcasts.yahoo.com trumps, for the time being, rivals such as Google. After all, it's clear to many that the Internet is moving quickly from a text service to multimedia presentations.
