iPods making inroads at Duke - PAUL BONNER, The Herald-Sun
MoreDuke University students will be using free Apple iPods in the classroom next semester, as the university continues to expand the digital devices' use in instruction. About 1,200 students will use them, or four times the number who used them when Duke launched the project at the beginning of last school year. The number of classes incorporating their use will more than double to 42 from last year. Last year, Duke gave away iPods to all 1,600 incoming freshmen, a move that drew widespread attention; this year, it gave them only to students in classes whose professors required them for course work. Last spring, about 19 classes did so.
