FSC to introduce iPod lectures - Aaron Wasserman, Sentinel & Enterprise
Add academia to the list of industries transformed by the iPod. Fitchburg State College is one of a growing list of colleges developing technology to introduce podcasts -- online broadcasts of audio recordings similar to a radio program -- to the classroom setting, said Charles D. Maner, the college's chief information officer. The college will outfit interested professors with wireless microphones to record their lectures and software to then post them on a class Web site, Maner said Tuesday. "As soon as the professor posts it, it's available for download and the student's software goes and gets it," said Maner, who added the technology will be ready by the start of next semester.
