Convergence of podcasters - TAMARA CHUANG, The Orange County Register
Tim Bourquin began "podcasting" from his home in Laguna Niguel last November. It made sense, really. Bourquin interviewed endurance athletes for his site, EnduranceRadio.com. But his audience wasn't the type to sit in front of a computer. They were outdoorsy folk. Why not offer the interview as an audio file, or podcast, so they could download it to a portable music player and listen as they worked out? He quickly became the go-to guy for podcasting questions. People wanted to know how to find them, download or record them. He received so many queries that Bourquin, who runs trade shows as his day job, began planning a podcasting convention. His Portable Media Expo, which appears to be the nation's first podcasting convention for podcasters, starts Friday at the Ontario Convention Center.
