Virtual High School prepares Middletown student for college work - Newport Daily News
Nearly everyday, Middletown High School senior Megan Larcom logs onto the computer - not necessarily to do her homework, surf the Net or e-mail friends, but to go to one of her classes. Through a new program offered by Virtual High School, the 17-year-old student is enrolled in an Advanced Placement U.S. Government & Politics course with 20 others from Oregon, Maine, Massachusetts and the Carolinas. Megan is the first student in Rhode Island to use the Internet-based program, which lets students take classes not in the course book but offered through the Maynard, Mass. nonprofit education group.
