Newark College takes mobile e-Learning to the local business community - Public Technology UK
Newark College is taking IT off the desk and into the heart of the business community, thanks to a mobile e-learning van. The initiative stemmed from the Government’s aim to bridge the digital divide and provide increased levels of ICT and Internet access to more deprived areas and to rural communities where broadband connectivity is typically unavailable. Newark College, with the help of ABK, has responded to the plans by taking e-learning facilities to businesses across Nottinghamshire. Companies in the certain areas of the county do not have broadband Internet access nor the computing infrastructure or hardware to host full-scale IT training. The e-learning and training facilities delivered by the college offer a flexible, cost-effective and on-demand alternative.
