It’s been nearly five years since the British Library closed down in the city. Yet, libraries in Lucknow have failed to wake up to the void in the sector. Now, with the British Council launching subsidised e-learning modules and online learning opportunites, it may well be a vital opportunity lost. Take the case of the Acharya Narendra Dev Library. Wobbly furniture, dusty shelves and an acute paucity of manpower have done little to boost its popularity.
