Displaced students get online courses - KIM BATES, Toledo Blade
In addition to opening doors to students displaced by Hurricane Katrina, more than 200 colleges and universities across the nation - including three in the immediate area - also are offering free online courses to those students. Starting today, the students can sign up for the classes, with local offerings that include global politics at Heidelberg College in Tiffin, leadership ethics at Siena Heights University in Adrian, and population geography at Bowling Green State University. The project, known as the Sloan Semester, is paid for by the Southern Regional Education Board and with a $1.1 million grant from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation. http://sloansemester.org
