Tynedale Virtual Learning College Is a Reality
A groundbreaking project to create a virtual learning college in Tynedale is set to become a reality. Tynedale Virtual College, the first of its kind in the UK, will open in several phases from this September after funding of £1.38 million was provided by the Northumberland Strategic Partnership (NSP) using money supplied by Regional Development Agency, One NorthEast (ONE). One of the men behind the scheme is former head of Haydon Bridge High School David Thompson, who said: “Learners often had to travel outside the area which was sometimes difficult given its rural nature, or enrol on the limited range of vocational courses locally available.
