Point, click, learn: BCC online enrollment grows - JAMES DEAN, FLORIDA TODAY
Click. That's the sound of a new semester starting today for thousands of Brevard Community College students, who are increasingly entering classrooms with a computer mouse instead of their feet. "It's more flexible," said Debbie Zarzour, a 42-year-old nursing student and mother from Viera who took two online classes this summer. "After being in class all week, at night after my daughter went to sleep I could hit the computer and do what I needed to do." Enrollment in BCC's Virtual Campus is growing even while overall college enrollment is expected to remain flat or drop slightly. This fall, online enrollment will account for about 14 percent of all credit hours, up 17 percent from the same time last year.
