The Changing Shape of Corporate Universities - David Baucus and Melissa Baucus, Innovate Online
David Baucus and Melissa Baucus explore the history and future of corporate universities. In the late 1990s, corporations began using innovative learning technologies to produce in-house, online educational programs run by human resource staff divisions. Less than a decade later, market changes and technological innovations have led corporations to embrace new learning models. These include enterprise solutions, which address large-scale business problems; organizational solutions, which support streamlined content management, collaboration, and knowledge sharing; and workflow solutions, which improve critical functions that substantially impact corporate performance. Learning products will continue to become more industry and company specific, the authors argue, and more embedded within the activities of the workplace.
