Degree by Web - Jessica Guenzel, Winston-Salem Journal
Davidson County Community College has begun offering one of its most popular degree programs online. Students are now able to earn an associate's degree in information-systems technology without ever having to sit in a traditional classroom. It is a first for the school, which has been offering classes on the Web for years. "As far as the associate's degree in information technology ... this is very new for us," said Ron Dougherty, the chairman of the school's Business and Computer Technology Division. "We've been moving relatively, very conservatively on this in order to maintain the quality of the traditional program. A lot of people are jumping on the online bandwagon. We feel like we took our time developing it and it's matched to our other courses."
