Malaysian Education Harnessing technology to stay connected - HARIATI AZIZAN, the Star
Imagine life without the computer and the Internet. In keeping abreast with the times, the Malaysian education system took definitive measures in 2003 to get more schools and institutions of higher learning connected.... The Government announced early in the year that local universities would be the next target in its drive to wire up the education system. The aim is to put interactive IT at the core of teaching-learning and management processes, while enhancing network links with other universities and research institutions to accelerate the exchange of ideas and integration with the global network village. In November, International Islamic University Malaysia took a big step towards its goal of creating an e-university environment. After going live at the Gombak and Petaling Jaya campuses, the university’s RM3mil network system will be further expanded over the next few years.
