E-xams 'in ten years' says university boss - FIONA MACGREGOR, the Scotsman

Pen and paper could be replaced with laptops for sitting exams within ten years, according to a city university chief. Edinburgh University Principal Tim O’Shea says it would be "stupid" to continue using written papers as computer technology continues to advance. He told delegates at the Society for Research into Higher Education conference in London that if technology was not fully exploited by universities, they would fail to meet rising student expectations. Prof O’Shea said: "Students who are used to using a laptop on a wireless network and then find a university that doesn’t have one will get very ratty, especially if they are paying for the privilege of attending."
