Some dislike online method - Michele Steinbacher, Pantagraph

Online education enrollment is at an all-time high, but there is an academic debate over whether the quality is equal to the traditional class experience.... Critics of online education are concerned with technology's impact in the classroom, commercialization of online learning, and the intellectual property and labor issues faculty might face, said Richard Stivers, an Illinois State University sociology professor. "There's really a substantial body of criticism out there," said Stivers, who has spent 25 years examining technology's impact on culture. "But it's going against the dominant belief that you can't question technology -- that technological progress is all improvement."
