Global university network planned - the Times of India
A Global Mega-Universities Network (GMUNET) to promote mutual understanding, academic solidarity and to explore ways of cooperation among mega-universities of the world is being formulated, H P Dikshit, IGNOU vice-chancellor has announced. Presidents, rectors and VCs of mega-universities of the world met this month in Shanghai to discuss opportunities, challenges faced by distance and open learning and to consider concrete proposals for cooperation between such universities. The delegation which included John Daniel and A W Khan, assistant directors of Unesco, elected Zhang Deming of the Shanghai TV University as chairman and H P Dikshit of Ignou as co-chairman.
