Younger students enroll in virtual learning: Programs for kindergarten to eighth-graders available - JENNIFER BOOTH REED, News-Press
Online learning, once reserved for college and high school students, has now engulfed the state’s elementary- and middle-schoolers. A state pilot program allowed two virtual schools to set up shop in Florida. They’re funded with taxpayer money, just like traditional brick-and-mortar schools. The Legislature, forced to meet constitutionally mandated class-size limits, embraced the idea of virtual schooling to free classroom space in kindergarten through eighth grade. High school students already had access to the well-established Florida Virtual School.
