Anyone, anywhere, can feed their mind - Jennifer Sharples, Weekly Telegraph
As John Chambers of Cisco Systems once prophesied: "The next big killer application for the internet is going to be education. Education over the internet is going to be so big it is going to make e-mail look like a rounding error." Indeed, with the number of internet users worldwide predicted to grow to more than 502 million this year, up from 87 million in 1997, e-learning is one of the fastest growing sectors. Not only does it eliminate the need for traditional and costly infrastructure, it enables anyone anywhere to access many different levels of education from specialising in a favoured hobby to gaining a doctorate degree.
