Week celebrates distance-learning education - JOHN WALKER, Shelbyville, Indiana News
Access to a college education is easier than ever. That is the lesson the College Cooperative Southeast wants everyone to learn. To that end, Aug. 3 through 9 β and in subsequent years the first full week in August β is officially Distance Education Week in Shelbyville and Shelby County. βTo me anymore, the more education one has the better their opportunities are for advancement,β said Shelbyville Mayor Frank Zerr after a ceremony with Shelby County Commissioner Bob Wade to proclaim Distance Education Week on Wednesday at City Hall. College Cooperative Southeast, headquartered in Batesville, represents a number of colleges and universities, including Indiana University, Purdue University, Ball State University and others, as well as Indiana State University which is the fiscal agent that oversees the cooperative.
