Aiming for good grades - LARRY HANOVER, the Times
Finding time to deal with children's soccer games, overdue bills and overgrown lawns are some of the challenges faced by those who return to college to further their education. But those problems would be a welcome change of pace for members of the military taking online courses through Thomas Edison State College in Trenton. Take Navy Lt. Santo McAdoo, whose amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge was deployed in the Persian Gulf in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.... "This does put a little bit of a spin on trying to study," he wrote. "My office is one deck down from the flight deck. It all looks very quiet on television, but when you are right below the steel deck on the ship, it can get quite loud. But you get by and after a while it is background noise."
