From cyberspace to face-to-face at Cal State Hayward - Elizabeth Schainbaum, Oakland Tribune
Janet Strudwick Smith first set foot on Cal State Hayward when she picked up her cap and gown on Friday. Smith, who lives in Maryland, has been enrolled here for several quarters, working toward a master's degree through the Internet. "It's exciting. You can only imagine what it looks like," said Smith at the Friday reception where online teachers and students met face-to-face for the first time. "I knew it was on a hill. I didn't realize the view was so pretty."
