Allegany College of Maryland faculty connection: Internet Classes - Don Robinson, for the Cumberland Times
At Allegany College of Maryland, we have been offering two advanced math classes through the Internet since the summer of 1999 for students who find it impossible because of time constraints to attend regular classes on campus. Many people ask if students can effectively learn as much through an Internet class as they can in a regular class. My answer is, it depends. If the student wants to learn the mathematics, Internet classes are just as effective as a regular class, perhaps more so. Any lecture can be revisited and reviewed as many times as the student needs. Questions and answers are handled through e-mail and conferencing software.
