UT Arlington Professor predicts continued growth for online classes - Jessica Smith, The Shorthorn

Michael Moore says he loves using technology and government classes and has been combining both in his online course for the last six years. “He’s one of the most dedicated teachers I’ve ever met,” Distance Education Director Pete Smith said. Moore, a political science professor and an assistant vice president for academic affairs, was the first instructor here to teach an online class and has taught the Introduction to American Government, or POLS 2311, course online since 1997.... He said he thinks distance education classes are unique because of the flexibility they offer and the fact that he doesn’t meet his students. He becomes acquainted with them through e-mail. He said his classes have all kinds of students but that older students generally enroll because they can take the class and still work or raise children.
