Technology removes boundaries for colleges, students - Kris Schiffbauer, Herald-Standard
Barry E. McGlumphy was teaching in Pittsburgh and kicking around ideas for an online degree program within the field of athletic training when he found out California University of Pennsylvania was in the market for just such a program. "I submitted a couple of ideas as potentially successful programs, and it was a matter of finding a university that would be interested. Talk about being at the right place at the right time," he said. McGlumphy was hired last July as an assistant professor in the department of health science and sport studies at Cal U. He put together what has become Cal U's master of science degree in exercise science and health promotion (performance enhancement and injury prevention), which is set to get rolling this summer semester on the State System of Higher Education's Keystone University Network.
