Point, click, graduate: Popularity of online degrees rising - JEFF BRADY / WFAA-TV

In a world where many are pressed for time, getting a top-notch education may soon be a matter of being online. The growing popularity of distance learning could make college degrees available to everyone who can point and click. Amy Lightfoot helps run the Police Department's front office in the Collin County town of Prosper and takes college courses from the same desk. After 16 online classes, along with a few others on-campus, Lightfoot has earned an associate's degree in business administration. "You have to have the discipline to be able to do the stuff on your own and stick with it," Lightfoot said. She did it on her own through Dallas TeleCollege, housed at the LeCroy Center of the Dallas County Community College District.
