Coventry soldier receives degree via the Net - MATTHEW SPRING, Coventry Courier
Waving into the camera, Barbara was so happy to know that her son could see her accept his diploma - thousands of miles away. Coventry residents Barbara and her husband, George, took the stage Friday afternoon at Bryant College's Graduate School Commencement in Smithfield to accept a Master of Science degree on behalf of their son, Christopher. Ronald K. Machtley, the president of Bryant College spoke about Christopher at the graduation, praising his efforts in the arenas of the classroom and the battlefield. Among his remarks, he said, "Christopher, I salute you". Somewhere in the Middle East, Christopher watched it all on a laptop computer.
