Bill would let unaccredited schools' students take bar - PETE SLOVER, The Dallas Morning News
A provision tacked onto a bill Monday would allow students of an unaccredited correspondence law school – including the daughter of a legislator who pushed the measure – to take the Texas bar exam. "This will benefit many students who will be able to take the bar," said Rep. Charlie Howard, R-Sugar Land.... Mr. Howard, a home-schooling parent, said his support of the measure stems from his longtime advocacy of home-schooling. Although the amendment would apply to any unaccredited law school, he said it was designed to allow bar admission for students from Oak Brook College of Law, a Christian "distance learning" law school based in Fresno, Calif.
