Media Instructors Face Challenges of Online Courses - Mark J. Pescatore, Government Video
Online components of college-level courses are becoming more commonplace, almost expected by students. Panelists shared their recent distant learning experiences in “Classes Without Students: Teaching the Virtual Course,” a session at BEA on April 4. One panelist, Larry Elin, who teaches at Newhouse School, Syracuse University, recently modified one of his courses for an online student base. After the first nine hours of face-to-face instruction, which he called “indispensable” for the course, the class was conducted online. It took him an estimated three months to create the online materials for the class, which utilized Blackboard course management software.
