Deployed college students can keep up with studies - Mike Hasten, Shreveport Times
Louisiana's student soldiers don't have to worry about falling behind in their studies while they're serving in the United States or abroad during the war in Iraq. Thursday, the state Board of Regents approved an online "electronic campus" specifically for Louisiana National Guard and Reserve personnel who have been deployed. It's the first program of its kind in the nation. If student soldiers don't have access to the Internet, another Regents policy saves them from losing what progress they've made toward degrees. Guidelines are in place to assist them in withdrawing from classes and resuming their studies when they return.
