But don’t stop reading here. This isn’t a marketing pitch. SkillSoft received an unexpected education as it went through the process of adapting its courseware to meet the needs of learners with sight, hearing, and other physical disabilities.... "Let’s face it, information technology is the way of the world," says Ross Doerr, technology and ADA accessibility consultant for the New Hampshire Association for the Blind, a private, non-profit organization. "If technology tools aren't accessible to people with disabilities, you’ve just shut the door to millions of people like me." Doerr became blind 25 years ago. Doerr points out that many of the design and usability enhancements that make software easy to use--and, more important, entertaining--actually make use more difficult for people with sight, hearing, or motor skill disabilities....
