Cohen, e-learning Magazine It's not easy gathering a bunch of e-learning industry executives in a room and making them agree on something. For that reason, and many others, I salute the determination and civic spirit of those who are trying to develop standards for our industry-so that course content is reusable and interoperable with software from different vendors. As with almost any other emerging technology, e-learning is going through a familiar rite of passage in which vendors balance the appeal of selling an entirely proprietary system against one that operates on a common platform. A proprietary system only works with components from software Brand X-good for Brand X, but not so good for customers who want to mix a variety of brands....
